The Big Bang Theory – The Euclid Alternative

CBS

CBS

(Season 2, Episode 5)

I wasn’t as taken with tonight’s episode as I usually am. For one thing, if I immerse myself into the non-reality of it all, suspend my disbelief and thrust my very soul into the series … it’s just a bad idea to even think of Sheldon driving a car. I don’t want him on the roads. Being proficient at Halo is no indicator of good driving skills. Can’t you see Sheldon analyzing everything about him and working himself into a tizzy behind the wheel? I can.

That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the show. Heck, as long as I get some smiles and a chuckle or two, I’m good with it. But TBBT has been spoiling me as of late. I’ve been able to count on the show for at least one good guffaw, if not more. There were some good bits and I definitely laughed when Sheldon was driving Howard’s driving simulator, crashed it and Penny hit him with the pillow (for the promised air bag).

The segment at the Department of Motor Vehicles was also good for a few chuckles. But that scene showed why Sheldon shouldn’t drive. Who else would question the rather unmeasurable distance of a car length? Not only should he not drive, but he shouldn’t be a passenger either. I personally think that Sheldon should live in an urban area within walking distance to everything. I can kind of, sort of, see him living in Manhattan. But I’m not sure he could cope with the actual sidewalks and all the people.

Nah, he should just keep trying to lash himself to bus seats for transportation. Where I live, that kind of behavior might not even warrant a second glance. I’m not quite sure why he had to de-bus in Pasadena. They must be sticklers there or something.

I can’t vouch for the Pottery Barn selling Star War sheets. It’s been years since I’ve been in one and I don’t recall seeing any bedding. But I might not have noticed. But the show is dead on about Wednesday being new comics day. Don’t ask me how I know this. You don’t want to know. I may have to say in a little Raj squeaky forlorn voice, “I like comics, too.” However, like his adversity to driving, Sheldon’s errands could have been predicted — they’re just so Sheldon-esque.

I’m not quite on board with Sheldon’s theory of being too evolved to drive. Yeah, he could be a “homonovus,” but it would have nothing to do with driving ability. He’s just a danger to mankind behind the wheel. And we all could have predicted that. As I said, a bit of a so-so show for me tonight. Was I just being cranky tonight? Was it good for you?

On a side note, I found the site with all of the Chuck Lorre vanity cards flashed at the end of the show. Since I record in case I need to refer back for blogging, I’ve been reading them each week. If you haven’t, tonight’s vanity card is at the site.

This episode really made me LOL! Especially when Walawitz (sp) drove Sheldon on his bike, and the pink helmet was so fitting!
