Desperate Housewives – There’s Always a Woman

ABC

ABC

(Season 5, Episode 6)

Ack! Lily Tomlin, Frances Conroy, AND Gail O’Grady all in the same episode! I’m psyched that Desperate Housewives might be on an upswing. They’re certainly pulling out all the big guns!

Lily Tomlin as Mrs. McCluskey’s sister, Roberta, is perfect casting. Those two are such like-minded droll souls, and I’m excited to see what kind of dirt they’ll bring up on perverted Ken-doll Dave. At this point, his mysterious storyline still isn’t grabbing me. It’s sort of looking like his brother was killed by one of the Wisteria Lane guys who spent time in prison, and now he’s out for revenge. Is that what you all are thinking?

If that’s where it’s headed, maybe they’ll throw some other shockers in there for zest. But the addition of Lily Tomlin drinking brewskis and plotting with Mrs. McCluskey is the icing on this twisted cake.

Oh, Frances! I’ve missed you since Six Feet Under ended (but everything ends, right?). Now you’re back as a mischievous socialite who might throw some fun wrenches (and fab dresses) into Gaby and Carlos’ miserable lives.

I didn’t see where the Scavo storyline was headed … At. All. but I love it! Now we’ve got this weird, wacky quadrangle involving Tom, Lynette, Porter and cougar-girl Anne, played by the magnificent Gail O’Grady. I’m betting there’s more to this story than just a teenage love affair with an older woman. With Lynette packing a bag at the end, where will it all lead?!

Bree and Katherine’s friendship is so sweet! Props to Dana Delany for this scene: “When we started this, you were just as lonely as I was,” she weeps to Bree. “Orson in jail, Benji gone, and I felt bad for you, but boy, was it nice to have somebody in the same boat. Then Orson got out and now he’s here all the time, and I feel like you’re this fun, happy power-couple, and I’m just this needy, pathetic idiot who hops into bed with the first pancreas thief who kisses her.”

Other points of interest:

The Wisteria Lane Band, a.k.a. Blue Odyssey, is pretty good! Hey, they should start a real band and call it “Band From TV”!

Woohoo on Susan and Jackson’s do-over!

Woohoo on Mike and Katherine’s new friendship!

We have a lot of potencial victims to the ken doll of evil, Carlos, Orson and Mike, they all have served time in jail…
