Dexter – Easy As Pie

Showtime

Showtime

(Season 3, Episode 7)

Put together the “previously on” scenes, Dexter’s conversations with Camilla and the title of this episode, it didn’t take a genius to figure out if or how Dexter was going to put her out of her misery. And, again, it doesn’t really matter that things are put right in front of our faces to figure out. There’s no trickery here — no mysterious hatch on the island or seeing dead people. It’s great writing and good acting, simple as that.

Last week I posted a poll asking who the most likely suspect was for the Skinner. This week I’d put odds in favor of the “someone else” choice, as it seems whoever’s responsible is an up-to-now unknown. My wife pointed out Dexter’s comment on Quinn’s tan, but I don’t buy it; it wasn’t the MO for this show when revealing clues. Then again, the poll has him tied as a first choice. If anyone from the precinct is found guilty of of this sort of thing again, next season it will be teeming with IA agents to clean house.

Odd that the show would use real photos of Michael C. Hall as a kid and not the actors who played him so many times in past seasons. I’m sure it was a hell of a lot cheaper, but where’s the consistency?

Again, Dexter gets way too risky with his business, discussing things with Miguel in loud voices at a public golf course. “Hey everyone, if Ellen Wolf shows up dead next week, remember you heard us screaming about her here today!” That situation right there would have been enough for Dexter to bow out of Miguel’s “offer.”

As far as Dexter putting Camilla out of her misery, maybe he’d be in a less risky situation if he got his rocks off killing people who ask for it … literally. Use his medical knowledge to get a new career in a hospital, make late-night visits to the ICU. God would that make for a boring show.

I think I finally understand where the Angel / Giana storyline is going. Giana is clearly a bad ass and odds are she’s going to want her shield someday just as Deb is doing. I could definitely see her being the one who tracks down Dexter next season or at least gets in his way somehow. Buh-bye Giana.

Biggest non-surprise of the season: Anton and Deb getting together. Worst romantic line of the century: “I’ll be your bait.”

“Marriage. Children. You never expect it to end in tregedy. Unless you’re me.”

“Do I see plastic sheets in your future?” funniest line to me.

Next week episode I think is the prequel to the end of Miguel.
