Randy Travis and Carrie Underwood’s duet on American Idol

american_idol_031809

I can’t stop thinking about the sweet duet that Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis performed on this week’s American Idol. I’ve read a few snipey remarks about the way he looks these days, but he’s always been a favorite of mine because he doesn’t conform to how people think he should look. He’s always just seemed like a regular guy who happens to be a terrific country singer who sings about stuff everyday people can relate to.

On this week’s results show, he and Carrie Underwood sang “I Told You So.” Or rather, she did most of the singing, while Randy looked upon her with complete respect and amazement that she sang it so well. And she really did. She has an amazing voice. And I think Randy was just as starstruck with her as she was with him.

I’ve since moved on to different thing, but I lived in OK till I was 10, my dad was raised there, so country music was a part of my childhood–especially Randy Travis. I looooooooved his music when I was little, lol, so yeah, I do still have a soft spot for him and I thought it was pretty cool to see him on Idol. People like Toby Keith should be kissing Randy Travis’s boots. :)
