See Jane Clack – Harvey Birdman, Joan Rivers and Private Practice

harvey_birdmanThis week has me clacking about Harvey Birdman, Joan Rivers’ freakish face, and that massive shark-jumper, Private Practice. Read on….

Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law. I’m not sure where I was when this show aired during its four-season run, but we’ve been watching it on DVD and it’s a hoot. We’re just into season one, and my favorite episodes are the “Bannon Custody Case” (Race Bannon and Dr. Quest battle in court to see who gets custody of Johnny and Hadji), and “The Dabba Don.” The opening of that episode with Fred Flintstone driving through Bedrock to The Sopranos theme song is pure genius. Anyone else a Harvey Birdman fan? Ha HA!

Joan Rivers, professional freak. I haven’t watched The Celebrity Apprentice this season, because I’m always busy reviewing Desperate Housewives on another network. But I happened to catch the finale last night, and was horrified at Joan Rivers’ face. It’s so … freakish! I don’t know if it’s the lighting in that boardroom or what, but it certainly didn’t do her any favors. Her mish-mash of plastic surgery is coming back to haunt her — and us. Look away! Look away!

Private Practice, shark-jumper. I meant to write up a post about the finale of Private Practice, but I was so put off by it, just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I get that they need a crisis of the week to compete with other medical shows, but the finale really jumped it for me. To end the season with a psycho patient drugging and paralyzing Violet, then cutting her baby out of her belly while a phone call detracts Cooper from checking on Violet just as he’s walking up to the door … it’s all so desperate. The show’s been picked up for another season, and sure, I’m wondering how the heck Violet’s going to get out of this one. Still, desperate….

Clack to me in the comments!

Yes Birdman was great. I watch it again and again. One of my favourite episodes is gone efficient.
