Diary of a Gossip Girl Virgin – Summer is for sleeping in, not sleeping around

gossipgirl201

(Season 2, Episode 1)

This show is less about the sexual escapades — sexcapades? — of a bunch of upper-class, leggy girls and more like a series of life lessons by Chuck Bass. What did we learn in this episode? First of all, piped blazers are extra-fantastic. Secondly, if you find three chicks wandering around in matching swimsuits, they are super-easy and, most importantly, willing to be super-easy together.

“Summer, Kind of Wonderful”

The summer heat is driving everyone wild and the Hamptons have some weird chemical interfering with the open air, messing with the social elite’s hormones.

Nate’s getting himself into a spot of trouble by sleeping with a married woman. I don’t know why I let myself think that Nate was going “good guy” after dating Vanessa, because that’s clearly not the case. Dan, the former good guy, let himself go playboy for a while too, while his sister got back on board with hard work and minimal back-sass at her internship.

The Chuck/Blair relationship is an entirely different mess that seems too bizarre even for this world. I literally burst into laughter when Blair’s new beau revealed himself to be a lord. That accent was too much for me. Or maybe it was Blair’s puppy dog eyes. Or maybe it was Chuck’s flared nostrils. Regardless of the reason, I laughed.

In the end, Nate was still pursuing his cougar, Chuck’s nostrils remained flared, Blair clung to the arm of her suprirse-Brit, and Dan/Serena became a sandy item again.

This season is going to be a mess, isn’t it?
