Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, The Office – In that order

On the nights I’m actually able to watch three or more TV shows (whether they’re new, recorded or via DVD), I post my own personal ranking of how each fared against the other. Some spoilers may follow.

Supernatural — The season five finale was spectacular, and it could have easily been a worthwhile series ender, was it not for the cryptic cliffhanger-y final scene. I’ve got more to say on the episode in a later post, but you can count this Supernatural fan quite satisfied with how things went down. (Related note: I got word from a contact at Warner Bros. that, though Kripke isn’t the showrunner anymore, he’s actively holed up in a writers room breaking season six right now!)

The Vampire Diaries — I honestly don’t even keep a close eye on this show while Deb’s watching it, though that didn’t stop me from being drawn in by what was going down. I questioned this series when I first heard of it, and then after seeing the first episode, and I’m happy to see that it’s taken on a successful life of its own. That finale was so filled with surprises, it’s going to be a hard one to beat going down the road.

The Office — Once again, I’m only adding this here because it’s the only other TV show I watched Thursday night. The Office is just … awful now. There will be some who’ll say it’s been awful for a while, and others who will say it’s still great, but it’s just continually taking a tumble down the hill toward unwatchable. In fact, I’m removing it off my DVR and will spend the 30 minutes of extra TV watching to put Community on instead. Sorry, The Office, but you’re done.
