The Big Bang Theory – That’s how Sheldon rolls

It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out Sheldon has been buying clothing in multiples just in case he might someday have to dress a rolling virtual presence Sheldon. If he had a dog, the dog would probably have matching t-shirts, too.

- Season 4, Episode 2 - "The Cruciferous Vegetable Amplification"

Sheldon's virtual presence

I don’t always get why they decide on the titles for the episodes that they do with this show. Sure, “The Cruciferous Vegetable Amplification” is indeed a cool show title, that was more of the minor story line. I would think that they would have had something like “The Virtual Presence Prototype Mission” or something. Okay, it’s obvious I could never write for the show, eh? But my point is that it was more about the technological virtual presence than the presence of the Brussels sprouts.

Leave it to Sheldon to figure out the year in which we’ll be able to transfer our intelligence into robots, thus managing to live without our mortal bodies. While I give the guy kudos for his healthy attempts to live a few extra years to enable him to enjoy the real robot life — the cruciferous vegetable night and his jogging attempt — I was all about the virtual presence tonight.

Set up on what reminded me of one of the fancy-schmancy modern IV stands used in hospitals, a monitor with streaming live Sheldon and a matching t-shirt on a hanger, this was his virtual presence. I liked it! From his kingdom on his bed where he touched no one and no one touched him, Sheldon rolled through the episode.

At the Cheesecake Factory, even Steve Wozniak recognized a virtual presence when he saw one. I must be in the wrong social circles, I guess. Wozniak’s cameo was on the par of the previous one by Stan Lee — just that, a cameo. That was a bit disappointing, but I’ll get over it.

It wasn’t a great night for fantastic lines, but sight gags ruled with the virtual presence doohickey. My own laugh out loud moment came as the virtual Sheldon and Leonard were in the car. I thought the back and forth “banter” was amusing enough, but I practically jumped and then burst out laughing when Leonard turned Sheldon off only to have Sheldon (his virtual presence) come alive with a BAZINGA!

On a side note, I really think they might try revisiting the Leonard/Penny relationship. It’s like they’re hinting — she owes Leonard all kinds of money and he doesn’t seem to mind at all. $1400 is a lot even amongst the closest of friends. What do you think?

I loved this episode! I laughed so hard, especially when Sheldon popped up on the screen, BAZINGA! I think that Penny and Sheldon will eventually get back together but it might take some time.

At the moment I’m kinda on the edge of my seat waiting on how they are going to incorporate the broken leg into the show. A broken leg needs a least 8 weeks to heal and Bill Prady said on Twitter she’d be back real soon. So I wonder if Penny will get hurt on the show and Leonard gets the opportunity to take care of her or not.

We’ll see. I said before that I like them together so I’m not against it. Overall the episode was kind of meh because I didn’t like the gimmick, but a lot of stuff Raj said (or rather didn’t) about Penny made up for it :-)
