Stargate Universe – Lt. Scott’s dearly beloved

Almost the entire hour was spent in Lt. Scott's Cloverdale dream world, and all we got out of it was further proof that Chloe's blood has special properties, and now Scott has it too.

This really was an oddball episode, wasn’t it? It was interesting in that the hallucination Lt. Scott was having seemed to put him in a very deep, completely non-lucid dream state. Other than that, the events on the new planet really only served one major purpose: to show that Chloe’s alien-tainted blood is somehow special.

Everything that went down within Scott’s “dream” shows us how he views his fellow Destiny shipmates. Eli is the camera-toting (keno-toting) nerd, Young is the father figure, Tamara is the doctor, Greer is the Best Man (best friend), and so on. I think we could have already figured out how Scott views each person on Destiny already. The one interesting point was Scott’s little flirting session in the bar and what that might really translate into later.

Another point made in this episode was to Eli, who once again was shown that he’ll simply never compete against Scott for Chloe’s love. Or, at least, that’s how he sees it. Don’t you think that, quite possibly, Chloe would have done the same to save Eli? I think it’s very likely, in fact.

Now we’re just going to have to wait and see what’s to become of those carrying the alien-tainted blood in their system. We already saw that Chloe goes into some odd automaton state occasionally, so will the same happen to Scott? I’m sure we’ll find out a lot more as this season progresses.

I’m fine with episodes that are mostly self-contained and don’t add much to the story arc of the series or season, but since this one was primarily about two characters I don’t really care much to know more about, I wasn’t all that engaged with it. The amount of time spent in Cloverdale dream land seemed too much.

I thought that in Scott’s Wizard of Oz hallucination – his flirting was his representation that he thinks of himself as acting poorly w/ women. Eli, was his jiminy cricket about women too.

I’m a sap, I thought it was kinda sweet that the marriage and blood transfusion happened together, even if I saw it coming from the outset.
