My DVR completely messed up last night’s recording of American Idol. It recorded, but it was all choppy. I hate when that happens, even though nothing exciting usually goes down during an elimination show. There’s some performances, some long, drawn-out bottom-three announcements, some fakeouts and a Ford commercial (which, by the way, I have fast-forwarded through for the past six seasons).
But, among the stop-and-start, garbled nonsense of the DVR (which, come to think of it, isn’t really that different than any other AI episode), I was able to hear this duet between Casey and Haley. To be sure I heard it all, I found it online this morning. You can skip to 1:00 to hear the scat portion.
I loved this performance, specifically the scat portion. But — and maybe I’m alone here — did it remind anyone of this extremely popular video that recently exploded on the internet?
People say that twins have an uncanny sense of communication, and that they can understand each other better than anyone else can. It certainly seems as though Casey and Haley are able to communicate in this way — at least, musically speaking.
There have been rumors spreading that these two AI contestants have recently started dating. Honestly, I don’t really care about that. If they keep doing performances like this one, that’s enough to pique my interest!

Having seen a portion of the baby video, and now having watched it in its entirety, I see a bit of it … but not to the extent you do, Rachel. Nice comparison, though.
Of note: I gained a bit more respect for Haley after that performance. She’s been growing on my more and more as she comes out of her shell.
