Last week brought a rare sighting to broadcast television, in the form of the lowest rated dramatic premiere ever. Amazingly, that was followed by a renewal for the lowest rated show on another network. Meanwhile, over on cable, the going was also slow for the latest from HBO.

Right about now, you’re probably in the early stages of withdrawal because there hasn’t been a new episode of ‘The Walking Dead’ since mid-April. To make matters worse, you have until October when season 3 begins to ride it out. What to do ’til then? I’m here with a bit of relief …

This week features sets from ‘Covert Affairs’, ‘Suits’, ‘Masterpiece’, ‘Kojak’, ‘Wagon Train’, ‘The Virginian’, ‘Dick Van Dyke’, ‘Benson’, ‘Invisible Man’, ‘Ghost Story’, ‘Octopus’, ‘Transformers’, and ‘Peanuts’.

A cool (to me, anyway) introduction on ‘Touch’ proved the show is serious about the spirituality aspect going forward just as much as the scientific and emotional ideas it confronts.

Maybe it’s just my generation, but you can give me ‘Sex and the City’ any day. They may be materialistic shopoholics, but at least Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda are strong, independent women. Yes, independent.

This spring continues to be a dark time for all of television, with lows hitting across the board. That didn’t bode well for the premiere of ‘NYC 22′ on CBS. Over on cable, HBO had their own struggles with the premiere of ‘Girls’.
