ABC’s winter schedule is official, courtesy of The Futon Critic. And not all of you are going to like it.
According to Jim fans, rejoice. Not only is Jim finally back, beginning in January, but you’ll get back-to-back episodes. What more could the discerning TV watcher ask for?
Oh, I know — how about an hour and a half of The Bachelor? I know, all your TV dreams have now been realized.
But wait — you say you aren’t a fan of Jim or The Bachelor? Well, you’re kind of out of luck if you’ve enjoyed any of the quality programming on ABC, because it looks like Dirty Sexy Money and Pushing Daisies are done for. They aren’t on the schedule, which likely means cancellation.

Totally pissed that DSM and PD are being cancelled. Love them both! Being replaced with According to Jim and The Bachelor (two of the worst shows EVER)has to be the ultimate insult. Oh well, History Channel here I come!
I’ve never watched Dirty Sexy Money, but my whole family is in love with Pushing Daisies. It’s sad that the show is probably gone for good and I just don’t understand how so many people failed to tune in for season 2 when they were there for the first.
How typical of ABC. They find a decent show, don’t promote it, move it around the schedule, and then pull it off the air before it has a chance to find an audience. Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money are two of the most entertaining shows to come along in quite awhile. What a shame. ABC doesn’t have a clue about quality television. Not when they put dreck like According to Jim and The Bachelor on the air. Just when I thought they might do something right, they go and screw it up. Sheesh!
Well they finally fixed Thursday by they still screwed up every other day. PD is dead, I came to accept that, just too cute for most, however you would think DSM would fit with the network’s trash shows nicely.

While all this is probably going to be true, it should be noted that at the bottom of The Futon Critic article it says
“Again, keep in mind the above schedule has yet to be confirmed.”
You overlooked one important sentence from the Futon Critic article:
“It’s believed a final schedule will be unveiled as early as tomorrow morning.”
The posted schedule is not final. What’s more, where is ABC’s highest rated show, “Dancing With the Stars”? I thought DSM was doing well this year so I’m surprised that ABC would cancel it. PD hasn’t had the highest ratings, but the demographics have been better than “Knight Rider” which has a full season pick-up and is getting a total reboot. I think there’s more to come as ABC makes the OFFICIAL announcement!

I’ll keep an eye out and write an update post if there are any changes.
DWTS has only what, three(?) weeks left. It has a very limited number of weeks that it runs. I’m doubtful there is much to hope for. I have been hearing rumors of the demise of PD for a few weeks. *sigh* I knew this show was too quirky and different to hope it would last. Now I suspect Eli Stone will be next to go…
I’ll wait until Pushing Daisies is officially canceled to mourn, though I’m certainly getting more and more worried. But it strikes me as utterly ridiculous that they would schedule two episodes each week of both According to Jim and Scrubs rather than reserving that hour for Pushing Daisies. If the ABC executives had half a brain, they’d stick to one episode a week for the sitcoms and give Pushing Daisies a chance to work with a more compatible partner. For instance, they could have an all fantasy/sci-fi night on Wednesdays if they just left Pushing Daisies where it was and let it lead in to Lost. (Okay, not the best match up, but still probably significantly better than pairing Pushing Daisies with Private Practice.) Then they could stick a single episode of Scrubs in at 9:30 on Tuesdays, instead of the second According to Jim, so that it would precede Eli Stone (which also seems to be a more compatible match for both of those shows).
As you can probably tell, I don’t really care one way or the other about DSM, but I expect it would still be an improvement over whatever True Beauty is both in quality and ratings (though perhaps not in dollars per rating point).
I can’t believe DSM is being cancelled… and replaced by The Bachelor! What a joke. More and more I turn to quality TV on DVDs, and less time spent watching live TV.
*sigh* That fucking figures. Those are my two favorite shows on television.
I follow 15 shows now. Looks like my top ones are going out of the schedule. Gives me more free time to watch crap, I guess…
Hey, Pushing Daisies fans might be interested to know there is an interview that just went up on Fancast with the Executive Producer Bryan Fuller and he says he would be up to make a Pushing Daisies movie or comic book and also touches on the possibility of changing networks (like Scrubs did).
