I reviewed Robot Chicken Star Wars: Episode II when it aired last November, so there’s no need to get too much into those scenes that I liked, and that are included on this DVD set. I will say, though, that what you get on this DVD is well worth owning, especially if you’re a fan of the series.
The DVD consists of two versions of the show: the standard one that aired on TV, and an extended version that includes a whole slew of additional skits. The extended version includes, by my count, about 25 additional scenes. I honestly don’t know why they weren’t included on the broadcast version in the first place, as there are some real gems in there. I’m sure it had to do with time constraints.
The only reason I can see for watching the standard version of the DVD is to enable the “Chicken Nuggets” special feature, which doesn’t work with the extended version. These allow you to push the select button on your DVD remote, to see brief commentary scenes related to some of the skits, whenever you see a small chicken icon superimposed in the corner of the scene. They’re all worth watching, and I wish they’d just included them along with the extended version, as well.
Highlights of the additional scenes in the extended version are “My Little Tauntaun,” Greedo’s Apartment, Tauntauns missing their friend, Obi-Wan & Yoda’s “Certain Point of View” musical number, Darth Vader and the garbage disposal, Admiral Ackbar playing “Pyramid” (the secret word: Trap), and Death Star debris raining down on the Ewoks. Here are a few quotes to tease you:
Han Solo (looking at his medal): “‘Hans Olo?’ Come on.”
Luke: “Mine just says ‘Participant.'”
Emperor Palpatine (referring to a map of the Death Star): “‘You are here?’ Where’s here?! Aww, I’m not even in the right hemisphere!”
The extras on the DVD don’t end there. There are more behind-the-scenes features than you could hope for, along with a demo of Seth Green‘s animation meeting, a time lapse of a few of the scenes being shot, and some video blogs. Something I learned from the extras that I didn’t know before: Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, and even Ahmed Best reprised their roles in voice form for the show — that’s awesome!
Now for the giveaway! I’ve got three copies to give away to three random commenters below. All you need to do is tell me which scene from the show is your favorite so far — you can refer back to my original post to see some of them. That’s it! Just leave the comment by next Wednesday, July 29, at 5 PM ET. We’ll pick three winners completely at random, and alert the winners after the contest ends. Only one entry per person, and you must have a valid U.S.-based mailing address. Not following these guidelines voids your entry.
Pick up Robot Chicken Star Wars: Episode II in stores today!
Pick Me! Pick Me! ‘Cus I never get picked :( and my fave scene is ‘Who has two thumbs and just betrayed his friends? This Guy!’
Can it be me???!!!
At A Drag Race is certainly the funniest when they put the cup on Vader!!!
I would have to go with “This deal is getting worse all the time!”. Freaking love the final punchline of that bit.
I loved Palpatine’s Trip…Seth MacFarlane does an unbeatable emperor :-D
My favorite is “This deal is getting worse all the time!”. Cracks me up every time he says that.
Stormtroopers take your daughter to work day. I think I lived that.
‘Emperor’s Bad Day’…”hey crayola, help me close this vent…”
While I really loved Palpatine’s visit to the new Death Star, I really liked the tag scene because it shed new light on things.
It never made sense that the Empire was defeated just because Palpatine was dead, so learning they had to do both that and destroy the second Death Star makes everything clear! “So what do we do now?” “Fancy a massage?”
“This deal is getting worse all the time! Dinner with Vader is classic!
really the drag race
My favorite is the Mouse drives the tiny robot.
The mouse Screaming made me laugh so hard

Great special.

“The names Fumbles, It’s always been Fumbles.”

Roger Rabbit & O.J. Simpson: Strangers On A Train!
The Stormtrooper Take your Daughter to Work Day was hilarious.
Boba Fett in the Sarlaac pit!!!!!
I like the scene where the writers are talking and it ends like the Six Feet Under finale. lol
Who has two thumbs and betrayed hsi friends to the dark side? THIS GUY!
Without a doubt, Boba Fett in the Sarlacc bragging about how awesome he was doing.
I disagree that “Racing At-Ats” was only funny at the end. The revving, the cliche baby carriage w/ a wampa twist. It was my favorite so far. (Although I agree the Free Willy bit in that sketch didn’t quite fit.)
The whole Take Your Daughter to Work day scene was my favorite.
Definitely: Storm Trooper Take Your Daughter to Work Day!
“Alderaan chunks everywhere!”
Big fan of the dinner scene.
The best one is “This Deal is Getting Worse all the Time”. Not only is the Vader voice perfect, but the reaction of the Stormtrooper and Boba Fett in the background is perfect! It’s those types of details that make RC the awesome show it is.
My favorite was the Dinner with Vader scene, especially the interplay between Solo and Boba Fett, and Vader’s “reenactment” of the destruction of Alderaan — too good!
I like Stormtrooper’s Take Your Daughter to Work Day.
Stormtrooper’s Take Your Daughter to Work Day for me too.
I LOVE the Scooby Doo Scene!!! It was so great! They did it fabulously!
Since I have daughters, I liked Stormtroopers Take your Daughter to Work Day the best!
“That’s why I don’t take my daughter to jack sh*t!”
I really liked the care bear skit. I loved the care bears as a kid, so hearing them talk about ethnic cleansing was shocking a hilarious in the worst possible way!
I loved “Endless Breadsticks” but all the shows are great
I kinda liked the people randomly getting checked. Like the kid trying to pee in the urinal
I like the endless breadsticks – my son picked it

The Emperor’s Bad Day is my fave. Thanks!
I like the endless breadsticks.
I have to say, definitely the opening, with Boba Fett killing all of the Ewoks. So many great Boba lines, and it ends exactly as it should – “anyone got a sock?”
i loke when bobba fett says easy with the antannae at the beginning
I liked the Dinner with Darth Vader scene!
I’m grinning just thinking about Lobot disco dancing

I absolutely love the Dinner with Vader scene, especially when Vader is re-enacting the destruction of Alderaan with dinner rolls. It’s great!
Thanks for the giveaway!
“Endless Breadsticks”!
“This Deal’s Getting Worse All the Time” just goes to show why you shouldn’t provoke a sadist by talking about things being “unfair”.
“Dinner With Darth Vader”
“endless breadsticks”
My all-time favorite Robot Chicken Star Wars sketch is the one where the Emperor takes the call from Vader right after the first Death Star gets blown up. “Oh, now he’s crying.” Hilarious!
My favorite scene was Try the Calamari…I love this show!
I thought Take Your Daughter to Work Day was the best!
It’s so hard to choose but I will say Dinner with Darth Vader. All the skits are really funny.
Try the Calamari was my fav also
“oh now hes crying”
the stormtrooper take-your-daughter-to-work-day
Lobot dances around the Cloud City corridors.

My son and I are huge fans of Robot Chicken, ever since we first caught an episode over a year ago! I just wish the show were longer! I’d also have to go with Dinner With Darth, but there is also a much older skit (wish I knew the name of it) where one of the guys gets married to some evil dude in drag. It was a riot!!!!
I like the Dinner with Vader one!
Take your daughter to work day was hilarious!
I really liked the Darth Vader at dinner scene
