The Vampire Diaries – More eye-rolls than OMGs?

I'm just not sure that the ratio of OMGs to eye-rolls is favorable after this episode of The Vampire Diaries.

- Season 1, Episode 7 - "Haunted"

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES

I’m just not sure that the ratio of OMGs to eye-rolls is favorable after this episode of The Vampire Diaries, but to be fair, I think we should tally it all up and see where the goodness falls. Just a few observations first, though.

Could Damon have turned a more irresponsible person? I’m thankful that the Vicki storyline isn’t going to become an ongoing saga, but it did account for several eye-rolls this evening (which we’ll get to). And speaking of Vicki, those open-toed boots will probably sit alongside the high-heeled sneakers in the annals of bad style choices.

Oh, a question: can anyone help me figure out who the actress is that plays Mrs. Lockwood? She’s nowhere to be found on Epguides or IMDb in association with this show, and I don’t know where else to look when I can’t remember where I’ve seen her before. I’m thinking a soap opera or something … anyone?

Now onto the tally….

OMGs

For the sake of this post, OMGs will count for anything that was cool, even if it wasn’t an OMG moment exactly.

  • “OK, Count Deepak.” — Damon to Stefan on his “we’re all our own person” speech to Vicki
  • The exchange between Elena and Damon when she went to their door to find Stefan. Well timed and super-snarky.
  • “Why do I have to pee? I thought I was dead.” — Vicki
  • Damon’s inability to mindfuck the mayor’s wife and his making the connection to vervain right away was very cool.

Eye-rolls

  • Vicki dressed as vampire … really?
  • Bonnie’s ancestor looks like her, just like Elena looks like Katherine. Lame.
  • Bonnie ended up with Emily’s (ancestor’s) witching necklace. Like, wow Scoob, what a coincidence.
  • The mayor’s wife’s drunken loose lips … really? Wouldn’t a member of “the council” know better?

The tally looks pretty even, but the general angst made me roll my eyes, but the fact that they killed off a main character — again! — balances that out, so it seems to be a tie.

Can anyone break it — what do you think of The Vampire Diaries? OMG, or eye-roll?

Ah, thank you GL… I think it was from Loving, but Mod, I’m not getting the Mulva???

She was “woman” on Seinfeld, “The Junior Mint”:

Jerry: Yeah. What about you? Did people make fun of your name?

Woman: Are you kidding? They were merciless! What do you expect when your name rhymes with a part of the female anatomy? Of course, not everybody can be as sweet as you are.

One of his guesses (and the non de plume she’s forever known as) is “mulva,” as in rhymes with….

Oh yes! Thanks Aryeh, I now remember the Mulva! I think it was her actual name though, when Jerry finally remembers it at the end when she storms off angry and it finally comes to him. Great episode of Seinfeld!

Susan Walters was also the Mom on Point Pleasant which aired on Fox a few years ago.

And if you look her up by name on imdb it does list her as being Mrs Lockwood in Vampire Diaries.

Emily doesn’t look like Bonnie.
