TV on DVD – Parker Lewis, White Kids, and Sexy Bridget

It’s a bit of a quiet week down at the DVD emporium. No huge current hits to speak of, but there are a host of good crime shows from across the pond hitting shelves. You can also look forward to another set from The Whitest Kids U Know, Bridget searching for sexy beaches, and my pick of the week, Season 2 of Parker Lewis Can’t Lose. Season two features more shenanigans from the buds, and this year Parker gets a steady girlfriend, Annie. It also brings a host of great, nostalgic guest appearances, including Sonny Bono, Harry Anderson, Kristin Dattilo, Shannon Tweed, Robert Zemeckis, Lindsay Price, Dave Thomas, Cassandra Peterson, Juliet Landau, and the 90210 cast. That’s two down, one to go. The complete list of this week’s DVD releases is after the jump.

  • Bonekickers: The Complete Series – From the BBC, archaeologists solve ancient mysteries with modern forensics. I’ve never even heard of this one, but follow the link to watch a trailer. It shows promise.
  • Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches:   Season 1 – If you liked The Girls Next Door, this should be right up your alley. Bridget Marquardt on a quest to discover the world’s most alluring beaches.
  • Callan:   Set 2 – Agent David Callan is a Cold War assassin who wants out of the game. He soon learns that leaving his profession might be more dangerous than staying in.
  • You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown: Remastered Deluxe Edition – The classics never get old.
  • Dirty Jobs:  Collection 5 – More dirty shenanigans with Mike Rowe.
  • MI-5:  Volume 7 – One of the great spy dramas on TV returns, this time with Richard Armitage (Robin Hood) joining the cast.
  • Pie in the Sky:   Series 2 – Semi-retired policeman Henry Crabbe would prefer to be working in his new career as a restaurateur, but he keeps getting called in for those particularly tricky cases.
  • The Real Ghostbusters:   Volume 2 – Enjoy a little ’80s nostalgia by revisiting the animated version of everyone’s favorite ghostbusting team.
  • The Red Green Show:   Seasons 1991-1993: The Infantile Years – Red Green, master of all things Canadian, manly and duct taped, finally gets the DVD treatment. The Infantile Years encompass the first three years of the iconic Canadian comedy.
  • Southland:   The Complete 1st Season (Uncensored) – Odd that this one is coming out now, after the episodes have started airing on TNT. I suppose the hook is that these are the ‘uncensored’ episodes, but have no idea what that means. Best guess? Swearing, but no boobs.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants:   Viking-Sized Adventure – You can’t stop SpongeBob, you can only hope to contain him. This latest adventure includes guest appearances from Dennis Quaid and Ian McShane.
  • Touched by an Angel Inspiration Collection: Faith and Love – No links here, because this is a bit of dirty pool. Rather than continuing to release the rest of the seasons, these “collections” contain four episodes each.
  • The Universe:   The Complete Season 4 – If you’re like me, few things can eat a weekend like a marathon of The Universe.
  • The Waltons: The Waltons Movie Collection – Set in the ’40s, and the ’60s, this collection features six made for TV movies from the classic family drama.
  • The Whitest Kids U KnowThe Complete 2nd Season – Ten more uncut and uncensored episodes from Trevor, Zach, Sam, Darren and Timmy. (Make sure you visit our sponsor, at the top of the page!)
