Let’s review So You Think You Can Dance just a tad

Why should three of the four contestants be in the upcoming finale? Here's the reason. ...

- Season 8, Episode 21 - "The Top 6 Results"

On last night’s So You Think You Can Dance, we got the results on the Top 4 who will be zipping through to the finals: Tadd, Marko, Sasha and Melanie.

I thought it might be nice to show why they should be there. The videos below remove any doubt of three of the four contestants’ worthiness:

And then, there was this solo from Melanie during the Top Six elimination episode this week. I want you to pay particular attention — beginning at about 27 seconds in — where she goes spread eagle then flings her body so far backward as to impossibly defy gravity.

My question is this: Seriously … how the hell does anyone DO that … ?!?

The finale should be fun. Even if you’re not into dance.

I can’t believe I actually called the Top Four way back in the season. I thought at the last minute that Ricky might squeak by (he had a terrific solo that, unfortunately for him, had no impact on the votes), and I probably would have been okay with him in the final four … as long as Melanie and Sasha are there, it really doesn’t matter who the guys are at this point. I would have been more upset had Caitlynn made it to the finals. Just like her solo last week, I thought hers this week was again sloppy and disjointed, like she was thinking about each move before she did them. She might be good with someone else’s choreography, but her solos always left me cold. Melanie has been my favorite from day one, but Sasha could sneak up behind her and rip the crown from her head. Either way, I’ll be happy.

Ricky’s solos were always stunningly amazing and the best the show has ever seen. However he had no fan base, which is a shame. I will miss him.

. . . . .

Oreo:

I saw some pretty awesome things come out of Ricky, but he just didn’t live up show to show with some of the other performers, especially the two top guys.
