Don’t get me wrong — I’m very excited about the possibilities of change for this country that Obama brings to his presidency. That doesn’t mean I’m excited about watching him get sworn in. Never a fan of any pomp, circumstance, ritual or ceremony, I’m sure I won’t be tuning into the Inauguration.
But that doesn’t mean I’ll be bemoaning the loss of most original programming that night. WGN begins airing Star Trek: The Next Generation on Tuesday, January 20. Now, this may not seem like a huge deal; after all, ST:TNG has been airing its repeats for years and years. The cool part — the very, very cool part — is that you’ll be getting a mini-marathon every Tuesday night, with three episodes in a row starting at 7:00 PM.
Could a mini-marathon of Star Trek: The Next Generation really be better than the Inauguration? Let’s break it down a bit, shall we?
A tough call? I don’t think so. You’ll definitely get more bang for your buck watching ST:TNG over at WGN on Tuesday night, my fellow Americans.
There Are Four Lights!
Michael Dorn is the next president on Heroes. Between TNG and Heroes, we’ll all get our fill of Worf – and then some!
“Michael Dorn is the next president on Heroes.”
I SAW THAT and thought it was the best part of the show!! How wicked cool. Way to reel me back in, Heroes.
Without the makeup I don’t care about Michael Dorn.
And I saw every episode of this show at least 7 times. There was a time when I was able to recognize an episode with only watching 30 seconds of it. I bought them all on DVD and never watched it. Sold them later on eBay.
And honestly, can’t we all skip “Encounter at Farpoint” for the inauguration. Is it just me or wasn’t it Star Trek which pioneered with african american actors on TV (or sci-fi, or simething like that) and exploring the topic of homosexuality… not watching the inauguration for again watching the two pilot episodes to me just seems wrong.
But who am I to talk, I’m a criminal, my opinion doesn’t count ;-) (<- again with the sarcasm)
Really Debbie wouldn’t you prefer to get started on Supernatural season two rather than go back and re-visit TNG. Although I have to say that TNG is my favorite Star Trek.

HA! This one made me laugh out loud, because you are soooo right! I have been bemoaning the return on new TV b/c I miss my Winchester boys, and now season four returns tonight and I feel so behind!
I have never heard of the network.
